New Lego Star Wars Sets – AT-TE and Turbo Tank

At last Lego have released some new Star Wars sets, it seems like nearly a year since the original Force Awakens Lego Star Wars sets were released. Some of those sets were better than others. We purchased the Millennium Falcon set. I had always tried to make this as a child with my own pieces, although it was usually quite square and used to fall apart a lot.

Stars Wars Resistance X-Wing Fighter Set (75149)

The new Lego Star Wars sets includes a new Stars Wars Resistance X-Wing Fighter Set (75149). This X-Wing is coloured blue and grey and comes with Poe Dameron, Lor San Tekka and a First Order Flame trooper mini figures and a BB-8 Astromech Droid.

Lego Star Wars Vader’s TIE Advanced vs. A-Wing Starfighter (75150)

Lego Star Wars Vader’s TIE Advanced vs. A-Wing Starfighter (75150) is an interesting set. It’s nice to see two ships in the same box, although the RRP is still quite high at £79.99. It contains Darth Vader, an A-Wing Pilot, Sabine Wren and Grand Moff Tarkin mini figures. It has 702 pieces.

Lego Star Wars Encounter on Jakku (75148)

Lego Star Wars Encounter on Jakku (75148) takes us back to The Force Awakens film as it contains the junkyard area and the figures: Rey, Teedo and Unkar Plutt mini figures and BB-8. Unkar Plutt’s market stall is multi-level and it also depicts the scene where Resistance hero Rey is forced to ward off Teedo riding an armoured Luggabeast as he tries to steal the BB-8 Astromech Droid. There are 530 pieces in this set.

Lego Star Wars Captain Rex’s AT-TE (75157)

Lego Star Wars Captain Rex’s AT-TE (75157) is taken from the Star Wars Rebels series where the series now features an ageing Captain Rex. This AT-TE was seen in the series, where several old clone wars troopers were using it to live on. This is a nice set with 972 pieces, but it does RRP at £99.99. It includes Captain Rex, Commander Gregor, Commander Wolffe, Imperial Inquisitor Fifth Brother and Stormtrooper mini figures.

This set features a rotating top-mounted gun with spring-loaded shooter and extra ammo, 2 cranes, 4 ladders, movable legs, opening cockpit with space for a mini figure, opening rear top section, opening rear access door with 3 clones, and a built-in lifting hand make it great for play also.

Lego Star Wars Clone Turbo Tank (75151)

Lego Star Wars Clone Turbo Tank (75151). I am surprised to see this set re-appear again. Again RRP is £99.99 but it does have 903 pieces. This takes us back to the clone wars and contains Luminara Unduli, Quinlan Vos, Clone Commander Gree mini figures, an Elite Corps Clone Trooper and 2 Battle Droids. This is quite a big set at 31L x 14W x 17H cm. The Clone Turbo Tank has 10 rolling wheels with flexible suspension, rotating weapon turrets, spring-loaded shooters, extending observation post, dual cockpits and panels that fold down to reveal a detailed interior, including a mini AT-RT with stud shooter with space for a mini figure.

Lego Star Wars StarScavenger Set (75147) and Lego Star Wars Eclipse Fighter Set (75145)

Two smaller sets that have been released are the Lego Star Wars StarScavenger Set (75147) and the Lego Star Wars Eclipse Fighter Set (75145). These RRP at £49.99 and £34.99 respectively. These new sets come from the new Lego Star Wars series called The Freemaker Adventures which is an animated TV series.

The Eclipse Fighter has an opening mini figure cockpit, Lightsaber storage underneath and a transform function that reveals hidden spring-loaded shooters and comes with Naare and Dengar minifigures. 363 pieces in this set. You may remember Dengar from The Empire Strikes Back as he was a bounty hunter who featured briefly.

The StarScavenger set has a configurable design with modular wings, engines and blasters, 2 spring-loaded shooters, foldout top section, and a mini scavenger vessel with salvage scoop and space for a mini figure and Droid. You get Rowan, Kordi and Zander mini figures and R0-GR (Roger) the friendly Droid. This set has 558 pieces.

Overall I think the sets that standout for me are the new X-Wing, the A-Wing and Tie Fighter set and Captain Rex’s AT-TE set. I don’t think you will rush out and buy the X-Wing set if you already have the original orange and black Force Awakens X-Wing set. But it is nice to see an A-wing fighter in a set. The only problem here is you may already have the TIE advanced set from Star Wars Rebels, so you probably don’t want another one. Whereas the AT-TE looks a lot of fun and is my overall favourite, plus an AT-TE Lego set has not been available for quite a while.
